Pie crust shields are invaluable when it comes to preventing burned edges on your pies. The shield can be placed on a pie at the beginning of baking time and removed part way through to allow the crust to brown, or put in place once the crust is as brown as desired. This metal pie crust shield adjusts to fit various sizes of pies by sliding the pieces closer together or farther apart.
I found this one on the internet for $10.00, but there are other models, some which do not adjust and some that are made of silicone, that cost less. I don’t know why I didn’t buy one years ago, rather that messing with aluminum foil.
