With a food grinder you will always know where your ground meats came from. No more pieces and parts from the butcher shop scraps, and you get just the mix of fat to lean that you want. It really doesn’t take long to grind your own meat and all the grinder parts go right into the dishwasher.
A food grinder can be a moderate splurge or a major investment. I looked on line this morning and found that they range from less than $25.00 for a manual grinder to over $250.00 for a heavy duty model. The one I use as an attachment to my stand mixer was on sale for $45.00.
I usually watch for chuck roasts and such to go on sale and then process the meat in bulk.
