Cajun Boiled Peanuts

Football food or beach treats, Cajun Boiled Peanuts are hard to resist. Best made in your slow cooker, they can also be prepared in a large Dutch oven. Stir the pot occasionally and mind the water level. The longer you cook them the hotter they get.

1 4 oz.bottle liquid crab boil
1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
1/2 cup Cajun seasoning
2 pounds raw peanuts in the shell

1. In a large slow cooker, combine all the seasonings with 1 quart of water, mixing very well.
2. Add the peanuts in their shells and stir to coat. Add enough additional water to fill the slow cooker.
3. Cook on high for 1 hour, stir, and add water as needed. Cook another hour on high and stir again.
4. Reduce the temperature to low and cook for up to 24 hours or until a nut removed from the shell is soft.
