Shaped like a spider web, this is a very efficient tool. I like my spiders better than any slotted spoon. The larger one measures 8″ in diameter and is perfect for bulky jobs like retrieving blanched vegetables from boiling water without having to dump the whole pot. The smaller one serves basicaly the same purpose, but on a smaller scale. It’s great for gnocchi or ravioli or any food you want to separate from its’ liquid.
Spiders used to be hard to find. I finally located the large one in an Asian market for about $5.00, but that was many years ago. Now they are available in almost any grocery or discount store, but even small ones will cost $8.00 or more.
